The small parrots owe its name to its strongly distinctive pair-behavior. Once two partners have found each other, they often stay together for the rest of their lives and spend a lot of time with plumage care and intensive physical contact.
A couple incubates three to six eggs in a year. The breeding period is about 21 days.
The most known subtype of the Lovebirds is the rose-heads. The plumage is mainly green or yellow-green, with some types, upper-tail-covers and Bürzel are blue.
