Our odd-toed ungulates in the zoo Stadt Haag

The equids are the horse-like and the rhinoceros.

In contrast to the even-toed ungulates, the weight of the odd-toed ungulates is carried only by one toe or three toes. The fifth toe of the back foot was lost.

In the zoo Stadt Haag, only representatives of the horse-like species can be seen.

Characteristics

Odd-toed ungulates do not have scent glands either on their feet or on their faces.
In the case of odd-toed ungulates, the fermentation of the food takes place in the intestine area, in contrast to the even-toed ungulates.
