Its fur used to be much more coveted than that of the stone marten, so the name “noble marten”. He climbs very well and can jump up to 4 meters. The tail (16 – 28 cm) is relatively long and bushy and serves as an organ of balance when climbing and jumping. Compared to the stone marten, the tree marten is very shy of humans.
The throat spot is light yellow to yellow, by the stone marten white. Its fur is splendidly reddish-brown, by the stone marten “neutral” brown.
