Mallard

Anas platyrhynchos

Almost of all domestic duck breeds, the mallard is the parent species and therefore by far the most common of all duck species. The splendid coat of the drake (male) is grey with brown breast, brownish back and black upper and lower tail. The head is metallic green with a white neck ring. The female is not so splendidly coloured and has a brown-grey speckled camouflage colouring.
